Many don’t realize it, but vinyl records are starting to make their way back. Back in the 90s, due to the digital age, vinyl records were tossed in the closet. Well, today, they’re being resurrected from the flames! I did a lot of research and during that time, I found the Jensen JTA-230 3 speed stereo turntable with built-in speakers and I felt it was worth telling you about …
What is the Jensen JTA-230?
This is a 3-speed turntable that is great for beginner and entry level music connoisseurs. It offers everything you would expect a normal player to have. It is belt-driven and has a variety of different features, including volume, pitch and tone control. It also has a headphone jack, stereo spacer system and a dust cover.
The Stylus and Cartridge
This player has a ceramic cartridge. Ceramic cartridges are robust, resistant and less expensive than the magnetic ones. Ceramic pickup makes them less sensitive to external noise. The only drawback I have noticed with ceramic cartridges is the fact that the stylus may be more susceptible to move away from the spot at low frequencies, causing the stylus to skip when there’s a large amount of bass.
The Inputs and Output’s
The player has 2 built-in stereo speakers. You can connect to devices like your MP3 player or iPod through the auxiliary input jack. By connecting your MP3 device to AUD input, you will be able to play your music through the build-in speakers. If you want to sample some tracks and see how they play over each other, you can play both the turntable and the MP3 at the same time. To listen through the vinyl player, you will need to unplug all of the cord from the AUX input.
Many have reported good feedback when it comes to the sound – it sounds pretty good, but it doesn’t go very loud. However when turning the volume all the way up, the sound doesn’t get distorted, which is good. Fortunately, if you want to improve the sound, you can plug up an external speaker system.
